Our Story................We are a youth travel baseball organization in the upstate of South Carolina. Currently we are playing in the highly competitive USSSA travel baseball system of tournaments around the local area of upstate South Carolina. It is and has been our desire to take young talent and teach them the game of baseball through skills development and competitive play in a tournament atmosphere.
As we begin the 2010 USSSA travel baseball season the Carolina Sliders are fielding a 12U AA team that will be playing in the USSSA baseball system. The 12U AA Sliders who are now in their third season are coming off a rebuilding 11U year season.
The Sliders currently staff our roster with only 11 members, a number we feel is the most manageable in regards to playing time and functionality. The organization does prefer to have members on our team that are from the local area, but will make considerations in certain situations. At this time the rosters with each active group are full; however from time to time we do offer tryouts to fill voids on the teams when a member leaves to pursue other interests, or other sports.
The coaching staff with the Sliders Organization stresses three very important areas, grades in school, sportsmanship and fundamentals. We feel if these areas are covered properly then the winning will take care of itself.
The world of tournament baseball is not for everyone and it is true that there are teams who train year round and stress only winning. The Sliders however, is not a team whose only mission is winning the game. We encourage our kids to try other sports, experiment with new things and have fun. We do believe that winning is important and we will always take the field with a winning attitude and make every effort to be successful at the conclusion of the game. The final score of a ball game; is not what makes a winner, but a small reward for the hard work it takes to become a winner.
